On 17 June 2021, the Members of the European Parliament Estrella Durá and Alicia Homs hosted an online debate on ‘What future for Inclusive Enterprises? Exploring the link between Social Economy and Inclusive Enterprises’.
The event was organised with the objective of shedding light on the different types of companies providing employment for persons with disabilities, with a particular focus on social economy enterprises and the so-called inclusive enterprises.
Network of inclusive companies employing persons with disabilities across Europe
On 21 and 22 October 2019 the partners of the project gathered in Paris at the headquarters of APF France handicap for a two day seminar to discuss the progress of the project.
This included for example a presentation on the EU policy framework for employment of persons with disability by Diversity and Disability Expert Nadège Riche and a joint discussion on the state-of-play of the European Social Economy Sector.
In Europe
The D-WISE Network welcomes the European Commission’s review of the General Block Exemption Regulation (GBER), recognising it as a cornerstone for enabling inclusive employment across the EU. As a key instrument for supporting the employment of persons with disabilities, the GBER has provided legal certainty and financial tools that empower employers to invest in accessibility, reasonable accommodation, and long-term support.
On 16 April 2025, the European Commission published its long-awaited Study on Alternative Employment Models for Persons with Disabilities.
