On Wednesday 14 December 2022, the D-WISE network met online for its second bi-annual meeting for 2022. The purpose of the meeting was to update members on the Network’s workplan for 2023, exchange on the national state of play of legislation affecting WISEs in Europe, and to update members on European initiatives that they can contribute to. The network also welcomed ADV Romania in its membership.
On Tuesday, 27 of September 2022, the D-WISE Network met in Brussels for its bi-annual members’ meeting. The purpose of the meeting was to welcome new Members in the D-WISE network, present the new Social Impact Report, as well as exchange with high-level guests on the latest Disability Employment Package.

Earlier this year, following virtual introductions, a D-WISE network delegation visited different Work Inclusion Social Enterprises (WISEs) based in countries beyond those represented within its membership, namely Bulgaria, Croatia, Finland and Romania. These visits aimed at further introducing the network to them, while better understanding their employment models.
The Commission’s Communication Building an economy that works for people: an action plan for the social economy, presented by Commissioner Schmitt on 9 December 2021, lays solid foundations to develop policies and regulations in support of the social economy sector across the EU.
On 22 October 2021, the D-WISE network and EPR organised an interactive webinar regarding labour and social inclusion of people with disabilities in the field of Work Inclusion Social Enterprises.
In Europe
The D-WISE Network welcomes the European Commission’s review of the General Block Exemption Regulation (GBER), recognising it as a cornerstone for enabling inclusive employment across the EU. As a key instrument for supporting the employment of persons with disabilities, the GBER has provided legal certainty and financial tools that empower employers to invest in accessibility, reasonable accommodation, and long-term support.
On 16 April 2025, the European Commission published its long-awaited Study on Alternative Employment Models for Persons with Disabilities.
